Our First Date - Story as told by Jeremy

The day started off pretty fun, dirt biking at Hemmingway Butte with Jon M and Dan S after a big breakfast over at Jon's house in Nampa. In the middle of breakfast, I got a call from Katie to set up our big night. I never like to make too many plans, so I wasn't even sure exactly what we were going to do for the evening, but I felt like I should make sure to have a plan in preparation for the phone call, so I tried my best.

Dan had recommended that we go to Da Vinci's Italian restaurant in Eagle, ID. Dan had taken Suzi there on their first date, and well, that worked out pretty good for them since they're married with kids now. But I most importantly wanted to pick a place neither of us had been to. I had been instructed that it isn't good to go to a place where anybody has any good or bad memories of past relationships and eating at that place, so I gambled and hoped that Katie hadn't ever been there. I was right.

I knew that I wanted to do something fun after dinner, and on the phone I had mentioned ice skating or go karting, but really didn't make any for sure plans. After thinking about it, the last thing a girl would want to do on a first date was put a helmet on and mess up hair, so that option was out. And even though I owned a pair of ice skates, Dan highly advised me to NOT bring my ice skates with me. It's not cool to try and show up your date on a first date with your fancy skates that make you look like a professional, even though the skates don't make me any better. Skating went good, we were both on about the same skill level, so it worked out as perfect as I could have imagined.

After skating, we went downtown to Ha' Penny Irish Pub to grab a drink and interrogation by Katie. I felt like afterward, I should have qualified to be hired for a job or something, for all the background history questions Katie was firing off at me. Even though I don't think I asked enough questions back, we really learned a lot about each other and I didn't mind at all.

We left the bar and headed over to 7-11 to get some colored ice in a cup (slurpee), then I really didn't want to have to bring her back home because the evening had been so great, so I just aimlessly drove around. But then, I thought that was probably a little creepy, so I figured I would take her home finally. We ended the night with a hug and agreed on meeting up the next time Katie was in town.
