Life in the real world

So, I'm realizing how great...and how crazy...life can be in the real world. In the last few weeks, I managed to pass my board exam, secure a job, begin the new job, and received my first paycheck! So much has happened in such a short amount of time! It's amazing to me that we will be getting married in a matter of weeks.
I started working in a small clinic (that's part of a large organization) and have really been enjoying it. Most of the time, I wonder if I am actually making any difference in anyone's life, but this week some of the people I see started to show signs of improvement. However, I had a wise therapist once tell me that "people get better in spite of you or to spite you." So, who knows. I'm just glad to hear someone tell me they are feeling much better than the last time I saw them.
The first big paycheck was spent taking Jeremy out for a nice dinner...and yes, I actually did pay for it. It's probably the last time I'll pick up the tab for a little while, but it's liberating knowing I can contribute to our "fun funds." We went to Barbacoa, which is a fancy little restaurant with all sorts of fare, including guacamole made fresh at your table, water imported from some far away place, and pretty flowers to garnish the dishes. It looked like they also had some fabulous desserts, but after our meal, we were pretty stuffed.
The big reality is realizing how exhausting it is to be working 40 (+) hours a week, and still managing to find time to get things done that need to get done. I've managed to get a run in a couple mornings before work and hope to get into the gym. After work is when it all seems craziest...trying to figure out dinner, getting laundry done, and running errands. The highlight of my day is finally seeing Jeremy in the midst of all the craziness.
All of that being said, it's time for me to get to bed and catch up on some sleep so I am ready to run in the morning.
