Honeymoon Day 1 - Sunny San Diego

So yeah, I brought my laptop on my honeymoon, but trust me, it was for planning our days adventures. You see, I didn't exactly plan anything, because that's how I roll. I reserved the hotel room online the night before we left, I had bought the plane tickets three weeks before we left, but I had no rental car or specific plan on what we were doing. I'm sure things will just work out, right???
So we flew out of Boise on Tuesday morning and had one transfer in Las Vegas (so Katie could spend her $2 in slot machines). We then finished out the journey and arrived in San Diego early afternoon. We used the plane flight to plan our trip, as Mom got us a Go San Diego card. So much stuff to do here.
So we landed, and found out that there are no car rental places IN the airport like Boise. Just a wall with a phone to call. So I called some of the numbers, got an automated system that said to hop on the car rental shuttles that come by every few minutes. But when we did hop on the shuttles, they said we couldn't ride the shuttles because we didn't have a reservation. Kinda sounds like a little bit of chicken and the egg thing. So me, being stubborn, decided to just take a cab to the hotel. So $35 later, we were at our hotel. Yeah, $35. That's a record for me.
We got to the Ocean Park Inn too early to check in, so we left our bags, and went walking along the beach. Here is the view from the balcony on our room.

Wow, what an amazing place. Miles of beach as far as you can see! And even thought it was only around 75 degrees or so, the beach was PACKED. Katie picked up some fake Dolce-Gabbana sunglasses, we headed into our rooms to get on our swimming gear, and we were ready for some beach action.
Laying on the beach has to be the most relaxing thing ever. We were there for a couple hours and Katie even fell asleep. There were even David Hasselhoff style lifeguards there complete with beach truck and shortie shorts.
The rest of the day we explored the Pacific beach area of the neighborhood we were in. Its a REALLY young neighborhood, lots of clubs, restaurants, trendy but cheap clothing stores. We were amazed that on a Tuesday night, there was a line of around 60 people to get into a club along Garnet Ave.
So after walking through the neighborhood, we decided to stop and get some Mexican food because it was Taco Tuesday, so we shared 6 different types of Tacos for $2 each. What a deal. I've now had buffalo chicken tacos, and am wondering why you can't get them anywhere else.
We headed back to walk around and get Katie some new sandles, hung out at an Alehouse for a while, then headed back up Garnet Ave later that night to go play some pool at a Billiards Bar. Just pool tables and a bar. Lots of fun trying to teach Katie how to play pool as bad as me. Day 1 was done, and we had done so much stuff, couldn't imagine how much more we could do in day 2.
