We were introduced to each other in August 2005 by Chris B, a friend of ours. Chris had been talking about Katie for some time, since he had known her as a student in youth group at St. Mark's when Katie was in high school, and from them both helping with youth group once Katie graduated high school. Chris had always talked very highly of Katie, the person she was, and I was always intrigued that he kept mentioning her, since nobody ever really talked about girls like that. Since Chris always kept mentioning her, I began thinking that I would never get to meet her, because it never seemed to work out.
So finally we were able to be introduced at a Catholic young adult meeting in a park with casual talks about religion, volleyball, beer, and snacks that I had been attending during the summer. I thought I was so lucky to have friends that would introduce me to such a cute girl. Katie was wearing a yellow shirt and long skirt that she denies ever owning, although to this day I stick to my story (and my memory). And NO, it wasn't the beer.
I geeked out and told Katie that her cell phone didn't have a Micron brand cell phone camera in it, which is what I worked on as my job as a CMOS Image Sensor Product Engineer at Micron Technology. We talked for a short time, but nothing else happened, Katie was heading to start school at Idaho State in Pocatello the next week to start her doctorate in Physical Therapy, so I didn't know if I would ever see her again. I always had a hope that I would get to meet Katie again, most likely when she would get back from school in the following spring.
